![]() ![]() I prefer it has loads of features and I can use the ones I need.Īs someone who has to select vendors on a daily basis, I often hear that CAT toll X is fully compatible with Trados until, of course, it is not. some people think it has too many features, other people think it does not have enough. well, they don't use the features but other people will. ![]() Some people say Trados is bloated, it has too many features - blah blah. Trados is the market leader and for a translation agency (or an in-house dept of a company that subcontracts translation projects) that's the best option. I simply don't get it how companies purchase stuff like Wordbee or Speaklike.ĭo you guys think we ahould have a CAT-TOOLS subreddit?))) Some of paid ones are absolute shit as well, I have to add. I am not looking at free soft as it's frowned upon in the industry - there are literally dozens of shitty cat-tools - don't look at them. I find MemoQ's Editor mode quite convenient however, MemoQ lacks the cross-software/format compatibility that, say, Memsource and Trados have. It processes and segments various file types as well or even better than Trados does, and its support for advanced stuff like regex or xml is quite alright. You, as a one-person department, will just need to keep a TM and a Termbase for yourself, so MemoQ will suffice just fine even if your little department expands. I must say, as much as 95% of these companies don't even use complicated features such as Translation Quality Assessment profiles or whatnot. Indeed as some people mentioned here, Trados is more useful for client-side LSPs as it gives them more flexibility in dealing with multilingual projects or other intricacies. Some answers simply cannot be given without these factors in mind.
